Global Forum (China): Prime Minister's Speech on Building Eco ...

[unable to retrieve full-text content]It is already clear from previous keynotes and discussions that each country and each region has a different notion of what this transformation and transition into a more ecosystem friendly society entails, and this diversity presents challenges for formulating a common framework .... AP Source: Broncos' Miller faces 4-game suspension

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) ? The Denver Broncos are heading into their self-proclaimed "Super Bowl or Bust" season with a series of busts.

A person with knowledge of the situation said on Monday that Pro Bowl linebacker Von Miller, the heart of Denver's dominant defense, will miss the first month of the season for violating the NFL's drug policy, pending an appeal.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the league hasn't announced any punishment. ESPN first reported the pending discipline of Miller, who didn't answer calls or respond to texts to his cellphone from the AP on Monday.

The league has a confidentiality clause on such cases. Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth said the team is unable to provide any comment.

Word of Miller's trouble comes one week after the Broncos suspended the top two assistants to Executive Vice President John Elway ? Matt Russell and Tom Heckert ? after their arrests on drunken driving charges, depriving the team of its top personnel men at a time when personnel decisions are paramount.

The Broncos, among this summer's trendy Super Bowl picks, report to training camp Wednesday. Miller will be able to participate in all of the workouts but he'd have to leave the team after its final preseason game on Aug. 29 if a suspension is upheld and he wouldn't be able to return to the team until Sept. 30.

Miller was the league's Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2011 with 11? sacks and he topped that last season with a franchise-record 18? sacks while making it to his second straight Pro Bowl.

Denver's defense was ranked second in the NFL last season and was spearheaded by the pass-rushing duo of Miller and Elvis Dumervil, who had 11 sacks but bolted to Baltimore this spring after a deadline fax fiasco made him an unexpected free agent.

Now, the Broncos face the prospect of also being without Miller for the first month of the season. The Broncos kick things off Sept. 5 at home against Dumervil and the Super Bowl champion Ravens, then visit the New York Giants before home games against Oakland and Philadelphia.

Miller set the bar high for the Broncos this offseason when he pulled a Joe Namath in March and guaranteed a Super Bowl title. He dedicated the season to his 6-year-old cousin who had just emerged from a coma after a car accident in West Texas that also injured his mother and 8-year-old brother.

"Guaranteeing it wasn't fueled out of being cocky or anything like that," Miller said at the time. "I actually feel like what else is there? What else is there for the type of team that we have and the type of guys that we've got in the locker room?"

Pro Bowl left tackle Ryan Clady last week reiterated that nothing less than a title will be sufficient in Denver this year when he said, "I think this is a big year for us as a team. We definitely have a lot of expectations: Super Bowl or bust, for the most part."

Getting The Most From Your Next Home Improvement Project ...

TIP! If you must patch your roof, aluminum tape that is three inches wide is all you need to do the job. Remove the paper backing, then apply the sticky side to a very clean surface.

Home improvement projects may do more than make the home appear more attractive. It can improve your energy efficiency, make it a higher quality home and increase the overall value too. The following information will touch on some excellent home improvement tips.

TIP! Without much decoration and personality, simple lamp shades are sometimes very boring. Go to your local crafts store, pick up some acrylic paint and stencils, and create designs on your lampshades.

Spackle and paint can repair wall holes made by paintings. Purchase spackle at any home improvement center. A little spackle goes a long way when doing these projects. Use a bobby pin to apply spackle over the smallest holes. Smooth the spackle when have successfully filled in the hole. Then paint right over it. This process will eliminate wall holes very quickly.

TIP! Purchase some plastic bins, and start sorting things in your garage. Give the boxes labels and stack them.

Kitchens are terrific places to begin a home improvement journey. Look first to the walls, cleaning them up from any grease or other unsightly stains with appropriate detergents. This accomplishes two things at once. The grease and dirt come off along with a lot of the paint. Paint your kitchen an attractive shade of tan and marvel at how the character of the room has changed as a result.

TIP! Two PVC pipes can be easily attached using primer and cement made for PVC. You need to use these products that are specially formulated for pipes because no other types of glue or cement will hold, and the primer will ensure that a leak does not develop.

Use bleach to maintain a clean toilet bowl. Sure, bleach has a strong odor, but it?s worth it to reduce disease causing germs and to have a shiny toilet. If you use scented bleach, it will reduce the objectionable odor.

TIP! Your bathroom is another important part of your home. Other rooms can be easily customized, but bathrooms must be kept in good condition.

Steer clear of any sort of furniture with very busy patterns. You may love loud florals or crazy geometric shapes, but they can be a challenge to decorate around. Purchase furniture in solid colors and dress them up with your accessories. Add pillows and throw blankets in a variety of patterns and colors for an interesting mix and match effect.

TIP! Never forget the value in owning high quality doors. It is what welcomes guests and sends them on their way.

Purchase a few sealant strips and draft excluders. Draft excluders are used under a door to stop warm air from escaping and prevent cold air from entering. Sealant strips do the same thing and fit around the door frames. You can usually get them at hardware stores.

TIP! Any painting job requires you to estimate the amount of paint you require. If you just guess how much is required, you may end up buying too much or too little.

If you have cords on your blinds, cut of the extra. It is easy for a child or pet to get caught and strangled in these cords. Make sure you have enough of a length so you can still effectively use the blinds, but you do not need a very long cord. You can tie it up or cut it off so you can avoid an accident.

TIP! Often home builders reduce their costs by installing cabinets without any hardware at all. Luckily, you can buy drawer pulls, handles and cabinet knobs online or in any store that sells home improvement products.

When you can afford to, stick to natural supplies. Wood, ceramic, stone and other real materials are usually superior to synthetic substitutes. They?re better looking and also a lot more durable. You will find that you will save money by not having to replace them over many years.

TIP! Air conditioners are bulky by nature, but they are a necessary evil on hot summer days. Using latticework or a trellis can help camouflage safely and efficiently.

Before pulling up stakes and moving to a new home, think about putting some effort into home improvement in the home you now have. Renovating your home allows you the opportunity to build it exactly as you?d like. Renovations are also much more affordable than purchasing a new property altogether.

TIP! Window modifications can make a ceiling seem higher than it already is and add some spice. To make the ceilings seem higher, simply position the curtain rod, drapes and valances, higher up on the wall above windows.

If your low ceilings have you and your family feeling claustrophobic, consider updating your window treatments to create an illusion of more space and add a pop of color that can be changed with the seasons. To make the ceiling ?raise?, put the curtain rods higher. This will make the eye think the room is higher as well.

TIP! Always paint before doing anything else. It is much more difficult to paint the walls and ceiling after the floor is put in.

Getting a home improvement project finished is a great way to make sure that your home is more valuable and can save energy too. This article discussed some popular home improvement jobs that should be started today. In addition, we have provided you with some great tips on succeeding in these projects. The sooner you get started, the sooner you will see the benefits.

Krayzy Days ? Why London gangster Ronnie Kray really shot George Cornell inside the Blind Beggar pub in 1966

[unable to retrieve full-text content]

Source: thejohnfleming.wordpress.com --- Sunday, July 21, 2013
Malcolm Hardee iconic autobiography Towards the start of comedian Malcolm Hardee ?s autobiography I Stole Freddie Mercury?s Birthday Cake , this passage appears: ______________________________ There was a club in Catford called The Witchdoctor. It was a club we all went to although they didn?t sell drink. Downstairs there was ?Mr Smiths? ? a gambling casino?. Eddie Richardson was involved in a big shooting at Mr Smith?s, underneath The Witchdoctor. It was a inter-gang thing. They all met down the gaming club and this bloke got shot and was bleeding all over the place from an artery. ?Mad Frankie? Fraser (the Richardson?s infamous ?enforcer?) hit a bloke who subsequently died and ?Mad Frankie? himself was shot in the thigh. He got outside and the police found him lying in a front garden round the corner in Fordel Road, Catford, where my Aunt Rosemary and Uncle Doug were then living. His mates had just left ?Mad Frankie? there. A bit inconsiderate to the neighbours. No-one outside South East London knew the Richardsons until they were arrested and there was a lot of publicity at their trial about torturing people in a home-made electric chair. But everyone knew The Krays . As comedian Lee Hurst says, the Blind Beggar must be the biggest pub in the world. Every time you meet a London taxi driver he says he was in the Blind Beggar the day Ronnie Kray shot George Cornell. Some people say the Krays wouldn?t have been big if there hadn? ...
